KUCHING - The first New Zealand Alumni convention has been proposed to be held here sometime in July next year and Rodger Chan though an Australian university graduate has been named the organising committee secretary given the experience he has in organising the Sarawak Australian Graduate Association sometime last year.

This was announced during a dinner of the Malaysia New Zealand Business Council (MNZBC) at the Kuching Hilton last Saturday.

The dinner was a follow-up of the MNZBC (Sarawak chapter) annual general meeting held earlier in the day, and among the agenda was the election of the new office-bearers.

The election saw Alex KK Ting elected the chairman, Josephine Chiew (vice president), Pauline Tang (secretary), and Felix Ho (treasurer).

The committee members are Victor Fong, Greame Brown, Paul Amin Satem, Stephen Lim, Stephen Hii and Wilson Tan.

The auditor is Chua Ching Geh and immediate past president is Stephen Kong.

Amongst guests of the dinner were acting High Commissioner of New Zealand to Malaysia David Pine, former State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamid Bugo, MNZBC national vice chairman Richard Tanersley, MNZBC national treasurer Kamil Abdul Rahman, immediate past chairman of Sarawak New Zealand Graduates Association Hj Zaidi K Zaini, vice chairperson of Sarawak New Zealand Graduates Association Ann Teo and CEO of Sarawak Tourism Board Aloysius Dris.

The MNZBC was set up to help promote trade between Malaysia and New Zealand.
