WELLINGTON: Tourism Malaysia will set up a marketing office in New Zealand soon to promote Malaysia more aggressively.
Announcing this yesterday, Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism, Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, said that Malaysia was letting New
Zealanders know it was a premier tourist destination with lots to offer.
He also outlined several plans to promote Malaysia as a premier tourist destination such as intensifying advertising campaign, product update seminars, mega familiarisation and product site inspection. Fu, who is on a weeklong sales and promotion mission, had a working lunch with leaders of the New Zealand travel fraternity in Auckland on Aug 21, followed by a major presentation and dinner at a Hotel. "We will also be embarking on a tactical advertising campaign to create greater awareness of our country and its many attractions and to encourage more Kiwis to make Malaysia their choice of holiday destination.
"Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines and many other Malaysian tourist-related organisations will make joint efforts to promote Malaysia more effectively in New Zealand," he said. Fu said that over the years Malaysia has successfully maintained its reputation as the premier quality and
value-for-money tourist destination in the ASEAN region.
Earlier, Fu was accorded a traditional Maori welcome by his counterpart Dover Samuels when he paid a courtesy call at his office, where both agreed that there was a great potential and mutual benefit to be gained. from intensifying bilateral cooperation in tourism between both countries,
